Breakfast

Let's talk breakfast. Every morning my girlfriend makes these smoothies loaded with fruit and coconut water. Sometimes she will throw in some Kale. These things surprisingly fill me up and last me until lunch. When a smoothie is not in the cards, I will have some eggs and nitrate free bacon instead. You will be amazed by the energy you get when you have breakfast. It's true when they say it the most "important" meal of the day! I regret every moment when I skip breakfast. You feel sluggish and sometimes I get grumpy =( .Always remember to eat something every morning but make good choices!

Yoshinoya

I had Yoshinoya for lunch today and I was craving their combo bowl. However, my rice eating days are over and instead I opted for the chicken salad with a side of beef. I was hesitant at first but when I finished my meal, it was quite filling. The portion size was just right and it was delicious! I didn't get soda and stuck with water. Yoshinoya displays calories on their menu boards which should be at every fast food joint! I did the math and my meal totaled 720 calories. its a bit much but compared to the 1190 calories in a combo bowl, I think I made a better choice while satisfying my craving. =)

Panda Express

Today for lunch I ate at Panda Express. I only had 8 bucks and a coupon for a free entree so that was my meal for the day. I know some of you think that Panda is disgusting and loaded with unhealthy ingredients. However it's not as bad as you think. If you order the right items, then you are in for delicious and healthy Asian meal. Pandaexpress.com  has this meal planner/calculator that is very helpful when planing your next meal. When I order I opt for the steam veggies instead of rice and chow mein. Then for my sides I go with String Bean chicken, Mushroom chicken or Broccoli Beef. Here is a screen shot of my meal as you can see, its 410 calories.

Be careful when adding side items such as egg rolls and won tons. Not only do they add to your calorie count, it also drains your wallet. As a bonus, if you participate in their online survey, you will receive a code for a free item for more added value on your next visit.

Cutting out certain foods from your diet.

If you had to give two things in your diet what would they be and why? Since being on Paleo I've given up a few things such as rice, pasta, bread, and chocolate chip cookies. Giving up the foods you love isn't easy and trust me it's been hard! However, I've dropped 23 pounds and today I received the results from my lab tests and I've lowered my triglyceride and cholesterol to normal levels. When you eat good,  you feel good =)

TABU SHABU in COSTA MESA, CA

TABU SHABU located in Costa Mesa, CA is one of my favorite stops when I am in the mood for some Shabu. Shabu means to "swirl" and you actually cook your own food by swirling your meat in a miso broth. It is accompanied by a plate of veggies and udon noodles. For me, I prefer the Paleo plate it omits the udon noodles. The atmosphere is lively and the service is exceptional. If you are new don't worry your server will walk you through everything. My favorite meat is the grass fed beef you can really taste the difference. Afterwards, the broth, vegetables, meat, and noodles become a hearty bowl of soup. The best part is you can  take it home and have it for lunch the next day. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a unique and enjoyable dining experience. Happy eating!
